Remember when….
~ Memories ~
Remember when
Remember when the milkman delivered milk in glass bottles to your door? The wax cap at the top?
Remember when letters were handwritten and you knew the mail carrier by name?
Remember when gas station attendants pumped gas, cleaned windshields and checked the oil? When car windows needed to be rolled up and seatbelts were an afterthought?
Remember when you tended your Victory Garden, collected the foil from gum wrappers and used ration cards during the war?
Remember when babies were pushed in prams, nursed from glass bottles and wore cotton diapers with safety pins?
Remember when women wore hats and white gloves to go shopping downtown? Taking the trolly or street car?
Remember when typewriters used ribbon and keys became ‘stuck’? White out became the gratest invention ever (for a time being)?

Remember when phones numbers needed to be dialed, the operator could carry a conversation, and there was only one ring ‘tone’? When push buttons were introduced and then cell phones?
Remember when you dressed up to fly in an airplane, tickets were bought through ‘agents’, and three course meals were served on trays with metal utensils? When suitcases with wheels was introduced and the first time you had to through a scanner?
Remember when tv test patterns were entertainment, Howdy Doody was popular and channels were changed manually? When screens were small and antennas needed to be adjusted?
Remember when you didn’t have airconditioning and the ice box was filled by the iceman? Remember when central air was commonplace and refrigerators dispensed ice and water from their door?
What do you remember? Do you share your memories with your grandchildren? Did your Grandparents share theirs with you?
